Elizabeth Margaret Smith was born on 1930 in Reading, Berkshire, England, UK. She started to work in a library at 20, and met Mr. O'Rourke, her future husband at Library School. During her first two years of marriage they lived in USA. They had four children.
She has worked as both a bookseller and a librarian and has published over ten books with various publishing houses as Betty O'Rourke. She was a former vice-president of the Romantic Novelists' Association and she is currently the acting Membership Secretary of the RNA.
Betty lived in her native Reading, where she passed away in 2006.
