1984-… Professor of physics and education, Lebanese University.
Tenured since 1988. Promoted from Assistant to Associate Professor in 1987, and to the rank of Full Professor in 2005. He chaired, and served on, many university boards, including the administrative board of the Center for Educational Research and Studies. 1984-2006 Joint appointments at many institutions in Lebanon and abroad, including American University of Beirut (1988-1993), Arizona State University (1993-2000, 2004-2006), and UNESCO-Paris (1997-2002).
All appointments abroad were research-related, especially in USA where he worked on many NSF-sponsored projects. Throughout his career, Prof. Halloun was, and still is, involved in curriculum reform and development in many American, African and Arab countries.

Research
Modeling Theory.
A pedagogical theory for science education grounded in the philosophy of science and cognitive research. Curriculum framework and development.
Authentic Assessment Framework.
A generic framework for integrating authentic, insightful assessment with learning and instruction, so as to promote meaningful and equitable learning. Development of numerous standardized instruments, and of the Contrasting Alternatives rating scale.
