Zamounde S. Allie, Jr., is African-American poet from Detroit, Michigan. In 1993 he was selected as an extra in the film, Forrest Gump. His poem, B.A.P., was published in the 1994 edition of the Airlift Spirit, Charleston Air Force Base, South Carolina during Black History Month celebration. He is the author of two books of poetry, As the World Burns (1995), and The First Time I Performance Poetry and More (2004) which received the Editor's Choice award. Zamounde performed a poetic segment along with co-producing the Sankofa Perspectives community radio series from 1997-2001 on KABF 88.3 FM in Little Rock. During this period he recited spoken words with the likes of The Watts Prophets and Umar Bin Hassan of the legendary The Last Poets. He won spoken word contests and numerous periodic awards on the Internet; the highly acclaimed TimBookTu site editor noted his efforts which led to a recital on the syndicated Tom Pope radio show, along with a TimBookTu online interview and featured works in the anthology, Journey to TimBookTu-an African-American Poetic Odyssey. Zamounde has spoken and recited on numerous occasions to include the Brown Bag Seminars at McKendree University in Illinois.
