James Fuller Spoerri was an attorney who practiced out of Chicago, Illinois counting the incorporation of Playboy as one of his accomplishments. He graduated from the George Washington School of Law in Washington D.C. and was very active in the Republican party. He was one of the world's premier collectors and academics on Ullysses by James Joyce. He was married to Imogene Elizabeth Holmes and they had three daughters, Imogene Spoerri Page, Nancy Spoerri Rudwall and Martha Spoerri Wohlken. Many of his first edition books from his private collection carry his name on a book plate and can still be found being auctioned at Antique Book auctions.
