Merritt Cutler

Merritt Dana Cutler studied art at the Pratt Institute and worked as an artist and illustrator. He was also an avid professional tennis player, competing in the U.S. National Indoor Championships in the 1920s and 30s and winning at doubles in 1930. He also worked as an art director for agencies. He also was an Army veteran of World War I and World War II, winning the Distinguished Service Cross, Croix de Guerre, British Military Medal and the Purple Heart. He formed and directed the department at Ft. Belvoir which turned out the Camouflage Training Aids and Manuals. He wrote and illustrated a book about tennis, and published several books about art techniques.
