We are all unique like the impossible snowflake, however occasionally there are people who come to earth a little or a lot more unique than most. Artist Rosemary Beaton (b. Greenock 1963) is one such person. Beaton and her work are a force of nature, a fire to warm your hands by, a beating heart of pure instinct and energy connected to a visual poetic framework outside of words and reason.? (Alison Harper)0Beaton shot to fame in 1984 whilst still a student at the Glasgow School of Art when, at the age of 20, she won the National Portrait Gallery?s coveted annual Portrait Award. Not only was Beaton the first Scottish recipient of the prestigious UK award she was also the youngest. Her commissioned portrait of the British political broadcaster and commentator Sir Robin Day (1923-2000) is part of the contemporary collection in the National Portrait Gallery, London.
