Genetic Algorithms in Planning (Preventive Inspection) undertakes two tasks: firstly, explaining and simplifying genetic algorithms and their applications and limitations in optimization and optimal planning and, secondly, applying the method to approach an optimal plan for the preventive inspections schedule in industrial maintenance. Thus the book introduces genetic algorithms and explains in full details how to apply them in the optimization applications. Then the optimal preventive inspections schedule planning is discussed and it is shown how to apply genetic algorithm to approach the solution; numerical examples are also presented and demonstrated for better understanding of the reader.
