Begins with the son of Don Pedro, Juan Garcia exploring the Midwest. Injured and left behind he is cared for by The People (natives of the Great Plains). Due to weather and other incidents was unable to travel on his journey home. Married and became a member of The People.
The entire series of The Spanish Bit Saga is well worth reading. Each book is relative to a generation of Juan Garcia's marriage into the family of The People. Have read and re-read this series. Highly recommend reading this series.
