Edition Notes
Codex Vindobonensis 2396 is one of the so-called Tacuinum Sanitatis manuscripts. The tradition of creating such health books in tabular form goes back to the Arabic work Taqwin As-Sihha of the physician Ibn Bôtlan, who lived in Baghdad in the middle of the 11th century. The Arabic original version was later translated into Latin, probably on the request of King Manfred of Sicily (ca. 1258-1266).
Includes bibliographical references (pages 153-155) and index.
