Folio. pp. (3). Plain wrappers. Curious ephemeral publication, evidently once folded into a letter format, and perhaps exchanged amongst Spanish Carmelite convents. The subject is the death on 20th December 1711 of a particularly virtuous nun, confusingly also named Teresa de Jesus. The letter is written by the Mother Superior of the Seville convent to the Provincial Superiors of Andalucia, and gives a brief account of the nun, who entered the convent at the age of 16. Much like her namesake St. Teresa, this nun was visited at night by souls languishing in Purgatory, and was able to deliver many of these to Heaven through her prayers. Also like Teresa, this caused her much physical torment from demons, as related here. She died in the night at the age of 54.
