Edition Notes
The manuscript known as the "Ambrosian Homer" (formerly the property of V. Pinelli) contains fragments of the Ilias with colored illustrations of the 5th (?) century. It was first published by A. Mai with title: Iliadis fragmenta antiquissima cum pictvris, item scholia vetera ad Odysseam ... Mediolani, 1819. The present edition contains the proœmium of the earlier edition, abridged, and lithographic reproductions of the drawings by C. Ruspi. These drawings are preserved in the Vatican Library (cod. vat. 8940)
