With more than 100,000 visitors a year, the Sculpture Park Museum of Providencia, Chile, located in the heart of Santiago, the capital of the country, was inaugurated in December 1986. Focuses on 21,000 square meters 35 monumental sculptures of the most prominent Chilean artists, including five who have obtained the National Prize for Art: Marta Colvin, Samuel Roman, Sergio Castillo, Lily Garafulic y Federico Asler. The author, who had input from the Bachelor of Arts, Carmen Retamal, puts the book in the historical context of its creation. Reveals how this site becomes public sculpture Chilean milestone marking the recovery of the depressed activity in the country during the 1980's by the crisis of the avant-garde and not by the existence of a military government as evidenced by contemporaneous documents and honestly in the book recognize the artists themselves. A text of the internationally prominent sculptor Francisco Gazitúa, included in the book, discusses the years of crisis and how the Chilean sculptural works are restored when winning public spaces.
