Translation and first separate publication of the untitled essay in the section titled "Paper in navigation and commerce" on the Duke of Bridgewater's plans for a canal between the Worsley coal mines and Manchester, to be built by James Brindley, in the Transactions of the Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures, and Commerce for 1800 (v. XVIII, p. 265-285, with a folded plan signed "Lowry sculp."). Plan in the French edition signed: "Gravé par Moisy."
