First part of text begins: Venezolanos: ya se manchado la gloria de vuestros bravos con el crimen del fratricidio: ¿era esta la corona debida á vuestra obra de virtud y valor?

A separate broadside printed on same sheet as "Proclama del libertador de Colombia" with title "Proclama a los Colombianos" was also written by Simón Bolívar, and printed in Caracas by the Devisme hermanos in 1826.

The "Proclama del libertador de Colombia" concerns a de-escalation of the conflict between Venezuela and Gran Colombia, promising the Venezuelan people the opportunity to decide their own future at the upcoming Constitutional Convention in 1828.

The "Proclama a los Colombianos" concerns an entreaty to the people of Gran Colombia to unify in their independence from Spain.
