Penultimate letter of first word of title represented by Greek character omega.

The 8th plate has imprint "Coloniae Agrippin. Anno Domini 1604." Several other plates have Passe's Cologne imprint, one dated 1602.

Engraved throughout by Crispijn van de Passe the Elder, including illustrated t.p. and dedication. In part after Maarten de Vos; several after the engraver's own designs. Others are copied from Hendrik Goltzius and others. For discussion and reproduction of all plates, cf. Veldman, Ilja M. Profit and pleasure : print books by Crispijn de Passe. Rotterdam, c2001. p. [73]-84; figs. 114-249, p. 317-384.

Verse legends derived from Ovid's Metamorphoses, by Johannes Posthius (58), Franciscus Estius (15) and others, chiefly "engraved in a calligraphic hand characteristic of Matthias Quad"; cf. Veldman.
