This work represents the first Malay prayer book for Sarawak that was printed in Singapore in 1857. It is a translated work that was, in McDougall's own statement, printed in a limited number of copies. It attracted criticism from the Malay community in Kuching, Sarawak. This prayer book is very rare in itself; it is equally rare as a piece of Singapore printing.
