The exhibition presents Polish art of the first three years after the Second World War. The years, when people were still thinking about freedom, democracy and justice despite the Yalta decreed changing the borders and placing Poland under Soviet influence. Artists, writers, people of culture were still contemplating democratic ideals. Painters and sculptors wanted to rebuild the line of artistic development destroyed by the war. The exhibition consists of three parts: The times of still-life, War/war, Abstraction and Surrealism. The times of still-life part of the exhibition shows the experience and consolidation of the coloristic trend. It presents the art of great individuals and explains the role of the Wielkopolska Museum at that time. The War/war part focuses on how so crucially important subjects like War and Holocaust influenced the artistic creation of that time. The Abstraction and Surrealism parts exhibit works of modern artists, from Wadyslaw Strzeminski to Tadeusz Kantor. The exhibition's timeline breaks off at the verge of the year 1949, when the government announced changes in the cultural policy of the country. Exhibition: National Museum Poznan, Poland (06.08.-12.11.2017).
