Jean Nicolas Louis Durand died at Thiais, near Paris, on 31 December 1834. The text of this obituary is reprinted from the Journal Spécial des Lettres et des Beaux-Arts (I, 1835). Quèrard notes that this is the second separate edition of the text, the first (of eight pages) having been suppressed by the author because of errors in the text (see Quèrard VI, p.140).
Signature: 8:̲ A⁶. [6 leaves, unsigned].
The woodcut ornament on the titlepage is a grouping of architectural tools and symbols. There is also a woodcut garland on page 11, used as a tail-piece.
