Biographical essay on the life of Dominican poet and intellect Freddy Gatón Arce (1920-1994). A Dominican poet and one of the principal members of the Dominican vanguard poetry movement, La Poesía Sorprendida and co-founder and co-director of the important literary journal of the same name "La Poesía Sorprendida" (1943-1947). His poetry was awarded the National Prize for Poetry in 1980
