This book proposes a critical analysis of the production and built architecture in the period 1980-2000, under the influence of postmodernism. There were two distinct groups, according to generational characteristics, that dabbled in this current: on the one hand, architects formed before 1980 under the optics of functionalism, which are called "converts"; and on the other hand, architects who were later trained, within the precepts of typology and metaphor as pedagogical tools, who are called "believers". Within this line we analyze the main works built in those years: Conjunto Habitacional Limatambo, Agrupamiento Chabuca Granda, Banco Mercantil and Centro Comercial La Rotonda, on the side of the "converts". Central Park of Miraflores, Ricardo Palma Cultural Center, Peruvian Labels and Bembos Restaurants, on the side of the "believers". There is a generational conflict between the theory of postmodernism and the ideology of the architects who developed projects in Peru under the influence of this current, a conflict that marked the future of architecture in Peru in the following years.
