The book Nomadelfia, An Oasis of Fraternity by photographer Enrico Genovesi is the result of a long-term project exploring deep values such as family, welcoming, faith, sobriety, justice and fraternity.

It is through the stories of the daily lives of some of the 300 people who today populate the Nomadelfia community - a small reality originally founded in 1948 in the former concentration camp of Fossoli (MO) by Don Zeno Saltini, with the aim of giving a father and a mother to abandoned children - that Genovesi tells us, in a discreet, sensitive and profound way, about their extraordinary model of life.

After various vicissitudes, this small community settled on a 4km area just outside Grosseto in Tuscany. It has its own Constitution based on the Gospel and is extremely dedicated to welcoming others. Its name derives from the Greek words nomos and adelphia, meaning: “Where fraternity is law”.

Nomadelfia has its own history, its own culture, its own law, its own way of life, its own tradition. It is a population with all components: men, women, priests, families, children. For the State it is a civil association organized in the form of a work cooperative; for the Church it is a parish and a private association of the faithful.

This photographic narrative testifies the existence of a collective experience that can be likened to a “contemporary utopia”, which nevertheless is shown to be entirely feasible.
