The text is a mixture of prose, pastoral poetry, and medieval and Christian legends, intermingled with some themes of medieval romances. The third part of the text, leaves 130-161, is referred to as "Auto del triunfo de la Virgen". Medina quotes Beristain: sin duda uno de los buenos poetas de la América.
