According to the Bibliothèque nationale de France, Rodolphe-Henri Deckherr, 1785-1848?, was an author, printer and bookseller active 1810?-1848? at Montbéliard; he was the a son of printer and bookseller Jean-Théophile Deckherr; in partnership between 1812 and 1832 with his brothers Théophile-Frédéric and Léopold-Hermann Deckherr, they published under the name "Frères Deckherr" or "Deckherr frères"; on Apr. 30, 1833 he obtained printer's and bookseller's permits ("brevets") and thereafter ran the printing house alone or in association with his brother Théophile-Frédéric.

Between the caption title and the middle three columns of text is a woodcut of the Wandering Jew walking with a staff before a harbor scene with a shop and palm trees in the background. Two smaller side woodcuts appear in the right and left hand columns of text, one of which depicts the Wandering Jew talking to a smartly dressed couple and the other with the Wandering Jew addressing Christ carrying a cross.
