Ame ni naiteru

On March 11, a tremendous earthquake originating off the coast of Miyagi rocked the entire Tohoku region. Maiasa Newspaper reporter Ōtake Keisuke volunteers to travel to the stricken area to cover the disaster, wishing at any cost to overcome his "failures" during the Great Hanshin Earthquake [of 1995]. In the stricken area Ōtake encounters circumstances so tragic as to leave the most veteran reporter at a loss for words. He is also given a special mission: to search for Matsumoto Makiko, a rookie reporter who has gone missing while on assignment. Simultaneously searching for Matsumoto and carrying on his grim reporting duties, Ōtake also learns that a well-respected local monk who perished in the tsunami was in fact a criminal wanted for murder-arson thirteen years before ...
