First song arranged for tenor voice and small orchestra (2 clarinets & strings); 2nd song arranged for tenor voice and chamber orchestra.

Using English language settings (from an unknown translator), Britten prepared these arrangements for voice and small orchestra in 1942, possibly at the request of the BBC.

Includes preface in English by Nicholas Clark with German and French translations.
