Young newlyweds Osa and Martin Johnson explored the exotic, little known, and dangerous Solomon Islands between 1912 and 1914. Their quest was to photography the lifestyle of the reputed cannibal headhunters of the Solomons., perhaps even witnessing an actual cannibal event. Osa describes her experiences among the Island natives. But the cultural differences between Kansas born Osa and the Solomon headhunters could not have been more stark. At times shocking, distressing but always amazing. An interesting read for anyone interested in South Pacific literature.
