The essay analyzes the aesthetics and the prose of the “Arte Nuevo,” the theoretical framework that led the Spanish narrators of the 1920s to do a critical review of the compositional elements of the novel. The prose collection called “Nova Novorum,” which was created by the publisher house Revista de Occidente between 1926 and 1929 and was directed by Fernando Vela, is taken as a model for this hypothesis. Although born under the aesthetic proposals of the Spanish philosopher José Ortega y Gasset, neither the authors nor the texts in this collection sought to respond to them, given that the influences were broader. Some of those influences are proposed and analyzes in this essay.
