Imprint derived from colophon (u6 recto): Has Pii Secundi, pont. Max. epistolas q[uam]diligentissime castigatas per Petrumaugustinum philelfum impressit Mediolani Antonius Zarothus opera & impendio Iohannis legnani. Anno domini. M.cccclxxxi die. xxxi. Maii.

Signatures: a℗£́ʻ b-t́ı úœ [x]́þ (a1 and [x4]=blank; a2-a5 signed a1-a4).

Royal quarto; primarily 33 lines per page; initial spaces without guide letters.

Leaf a2: Titvli epistolarvm Pii Secvndi, Pontificis Maximi, qvae in hoc divino volvmine continentvr.

Leaf [x3] recto: Index foliorvm hvivs divini volvminis.

Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) copy imperfect: gathering [x́þ] wanting. Halfbound in modern vellum and gray papers. Title stamped in black on the spine. Head, foot, and fore-edge of text block labeled in early manuscript. Manuscript square diagram on a1 recto. Pen trials on a2 verso. Early inscription in lower margin of a2 recto: "Ad usum Fra[tris] antonij de palmerio de silento." Early/contemporary marginalia, in red, throughout. Leaf dimensions: 270 x 195 mm. Purchased Aug. 1989 from G.W. Stuart (catalog 22, no. 15).
