According to Adams, the preliminary gatherings are signed a-c⁸ in the present ed. However, after the unsigned title leaf, the next 3 leaves of the Getty copy are signed: a2, b3, b4.
Binding: later paper, half sheepskin. Spine tooled in gilt, with title on label. Edges sprinkled blue.
At upper left-hand corner of front pastedown is label of A.F., annotated in ink "Augusto Franco 1903." At foot of front pastedown is label of Ulrich Middeldorf. Above the printer's device on the t.p. are the initials G A R. At either side of the device is the signature: Damiano / Luna.
Inserted in Getty copy are 7 slips from booksellers' catalogs listing the present work, a printed port. of Francesco de' Guicciardini after Giuseppe Marrubini taken from a publication of 1853, and 2 folded sheets (each 37 x 27 cm.) with collotype reproductions of manuscripts: Cod. VI, p. 1 (Cod. Med. Palat. no. CLXVI, vol. I, della R. Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana), and: Cod. V App., p. 4 (Ms. D 3, fasc. 1., dell'Archivio della Famiglia Guicciardini). There are also two MS notes from Paolo Guicciardini to Middeldorf, dated 30 May 1930 and 1 Sept. 1930, concerning photographs of Guicciardini's "busto del Robbia" which he is sending Middeldorf in exchange for the "edizione guicciardiniana" that Middeldorf obtained for him.
