Date of 1648 on title page is erroneous; dedication, leaves [2] and [3] recto, 1st count, is dated: Madrid, y diziembre 8. de 1657; errata, leaf [6] verso, 1st count dated: Madrid 29. de nouiembre de 1657.
Revised and enlarged by Luis Muñoz of the edition first printed in Mexico, 1613 under title: La vida que hizo el siervo de Dios Gregorio Lopez.
Another edition printed by the Imprenta real in Madrid in the same year.
Gregorio López was a wandering hermit, born in Spain, who left for the New World in 1562. The author and the hermit both lived near the village of Santa Fe. Although López never became a saint, he was accorded the title zvenerabley, a distinction rarely given by the church to figures from the Spanish colonies.
