"First of two-volume reissue of author's poems written over a period of 40 years covers 1940-61. (Second vol. is annotated in item #bi 00006082#.) The division was established by the author, and the volumes were published a year before his death. This volume includes a preface by the poet and his wife, Marly de Oliveira. Begins with 'Pedra do Sono' (1940-41) and concludes with 'Serial' (1959-61). Research on author's earliest works is based on 1968 edition, according to his wish"--Handbook of Latin American Studies, v. 58.
