Imagine that Hitler had not made an expansionist policy, and limited to "domestic politics" (anti-communist and racist). With the emergence of the USSR, the Western powers would prefer it ti Stalin and would maintain diplomatic relations, business, etc.
By this side, the Nazi dictatorship would had several decades (say 40 years of dictatorship) to remove its darkest acts, those related to racism. Subsequently, a "modelic" transition to democracy, have given way to a democratic Germany carried by the same families during the dictatorship.
This fiction, largely could identify the spanish Franco era.
But what if Spain had also been a manifestly racist policy, causing a hidden local holocaust? This is the thesis of the novel, "Tempesta", in which, as in a puzzle of 800 pages, you get a new image of the civil war. Franco camouflaged racist killings in a left-right conflict. And the subsequent evolution of the system towards a soft dictatorship, and later a democracy under supervision by the dictatorship elites, just hide it definetively. Definetively?
