Edition Notes

Colophon of typefacsimile: In Firenze, L'anno M.D.L.XVIII. Signatures: A-E, F. Many errors in numbering of leaves.

"Edizione ... contraffatta sulla Giuntina dell'anno 1568"--Note at beginning of [3] pages of additional poems appended to this copy of the facsimile.

A facsimile of the 1568 edition, executed under the care of Gamba, of which 100 copies were issued. Added are two leaves containing canzone from the first edition of Pacini and from that of 1562.

The facsimile edition may be distinguished from the original by the first initial of the Canzoni, which in the original shows two human figures, and in the reprint a landscape with buildings--cf. Gamba, Serie dei testi di lingua, 4. ed. 1839, no. 266.

La Boca da Dicomano, attributed here to Lorenzo de' Medici, is by Luigi Pulci.

Barton collection catalog, p. 374, col. 2

Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) copy bound in full red morocco with a gilt super-ex-libris on both covers featuring the arms of France Moderne (three fleurs-de-lys), paired with a second, unidentified escutcheon under an open crown. Both doublures are of red silk. The bookplate of John Trotter Brockett is present at the front.
