Edition Notes

Gaurico's De sculptura first published Florence, 1504. Montjosieu's Commentarius first published as part of his Gallus Romae hospes (Rome, 1585). Goorle's Dactyliotheca first published Delft, 1601. See Brunet.

De Montjosieu's Commentarius is followed by two short works: Aldus Manutius Pauli f., De caelatura et pictura (p. 168-173). Philostratus, Iconum initio : de pictura (p. 173-174).

Binding: later paste paper, vellum back and corners. First two authors written at head of spine. Page edges red.

Centered on front pastedown is bookplate of G.F. and M. Hill. At the foot is Ulrich Middeldorf's label. Several printed slips from booksellers' catalogs inserted with descriptions of the present work. Ownership inscription at foot of t.p.: D. Schol. P. S. ?Pari.
