Trapped in a Dream Based on The True Story of Boston Blacky

About the Book

Who was the original Boston Blacky? How did he come by his name? Was he a member of the mob? What, if any, was his association with reputed mobster, Jerry Anjuleo? Which celebrities did he call friends?
These and other fascinating questions will be answered in the pages that follow.
Most people know the man as a professional pool player – one of the best whoever picked up a cue. Did you know he was also a very successful gambler? Many wonder about the rumors that have swirled about the name. In the exclusive interviews on which this book is based, he gives very candid, up front, answers about his life and his affiliations. He relates what are sometimes bone chilling details of his deeds and misdeeds.
He speaks of his relationships with famous folks like Gene Kindle, Jacqueline Ontasis, Martha Raye and others. Learn who got him his first job at the Ritz Carlton and about his famous (or infamous) neighbor in Boston. Hear about both the wonderful and the horrendous things he witnessed during his colorful lifetime. Read this book and you will know all you've ever wanted to know about the ever mysterious, ever fascinating, Boston Blacky.
As Blacky quietly gets into bed next to his wife, he falls fast asleep and now he cannot wake up until he relives his life from the beginning. He begs in his sleep from time to time, to please wake him up from the awful dream that he is in, so he can be awake lying next to his wife once again, but no one hears him. He goes through all the facets of his life in which some are good but some are really bad. Things that he didn't want to go back to in the past to see, it was bad enough living it once, but twice! If he does not relive the whole past he could be stuck in his dream forever.

The Original Boston Blacky
Nicholas Victor Augello made his first appearance on this earth in North Adams Massachusetts in 1927. His father was born in Italy and his mother in New York State. Nicholas or simply Nick as he was known when he was young grew up during the great depression. After his mother and father divorced the family had to live on welfare. There were three children: Frank was the oldest, Jilda in the middle, and Nick the youngest.
It was a difficult time, especially for children. Simple things like coffee, sugar, treats, and tires for those fortunate enough to have a vehicle were often impossible to come by. Banks failed and many people lost their savings. His mother struggled to provide the necessities for her family.
Eventually Nick's mother met another man, Jerry Dee and within a short time had re-married. Jerry made a wonderful stepfather for the children. It was easy for them to call him dad. He was a good provider working for the B & M railroad in North Adams for nearly thirty years. When Nick was four the family relocated to Boston where Jerry had secured a job upon his retirement from the railroad. They settled into a four room apartment on Lyne Street at the west end. It was a four story climb but the children didn't seem to mind.
They lived comfortably considering the time. Although furnishings were minimal they never went hungry.
In the heat of summer, the firefighters would open the fire hydrant on the corner and the youngsters cooled off and played in the water. Nick loved to stay outside and move from the hot sun to the cooling spray. His tan grew darker and darker. At one point his mother looked at him and said, Wow! Look at my Blacky. He soon became Boston Blacky and stuck with him throughout his life.
