The Vanilla Lawyer series features a handsome probate lawyer named Simon Caldwell who just wants to be a wallflower. Nevertheless, he and his compatriots, an interior decorator named Dot and a stripper named Jocelyn, always find themselves embroiled in the wildest of mysteries. Set in Minneapolis and St. Paul, the books celebrate the quirks and idiosyncracies of these Midwestern Twin Cities.
The first book focuses on the lawyer's attempts to get an old bluesman the money he is owed from the rock groups who made hits out of his songs for themselves and paid him nothing. But this is a mystery novel, after all, and this simple copyright case leads to, what else, murder.
