1985: The swiss-brazilian Edgar Ricardo von Buettner, at that time a 42 years old economist, photographer and teacher at the Institute for Ethnology at the Universty of Zuerich in Switzerland, visited in 1984 Salvador da Bahia, capital of the federal state of Bahia in Brazil. The "Baianas" he captured with his camera, are related with the most important afro-brazilian religion, the Candomblé. Most tourists, visiting Bahia, do not know, that the specialities offered by the Baianas in Salvador's streets, like acarajés and abarás are holy food. Bahias gastronome culture is one of the richest and most interesting in Brazil! If you shall visit Brazil in 2014 for the football Worldcup, don't forget to visit the culinary museum and the SENAC-Restaurant at the Pelourinho, the historical downtown at Salvador! Hubert Fichtes text is focused at the afro-brasilian religion Candombé.
