Work Description

Munir's Murder: A Perfect Crime?

A narrative journalism on murder of Munir Said Thalib, Indonesian prominent rights activist. He was poisoned with arsenic on a flight from Jakarta to Amsterdam on September 7, 2004.
The book narrates Munir's long flight, the pursuing of justice in the court rooms, and the author's in-depth interviews with Pollycarpus, an Indonesian pilot who was convicted to 20 years' jail for the murder, in Cipinang dan Sukamiskin prison.
The police investigations found facts that link the murder with individuals in Indonesian secret service. The trials (2005-2009) involved four defendants, and the last defendant was Muchdi Pr, former Deputi V of Indonesian secret service, who was found not guilty by the supreme court. But, it is not the end of the story since the attorney planned Peninjauan Kembali to the verdict.
