Marie (Ontario, Canada), Peguis immigrated to Red River Settlement (Winnipeg, Manitoba) in the late 1700s where he made his home on the banks of Netley Creek. He befriended certain English missionaries with whom he began St. Peter's Settlement including the creation of a limestone church, which was called, St. Peter.
