The main work of the controversial Danish historian Niels Ditlev Riegels. The work follows the manuscript of Andres Hojer, official court historiographer to Frederick IV of Denmark, added with Riegels characteristic critical remarks concerning nobility, the church and society in general. The work also contains extended appendices of sources from Fredericks rule, many of which is only printed in this work.

With, as issued, Koefoed, Daniel. Bielag til anden deels syvende stykke af Fierde Friderichs historie. Kiøbenhavn, 1799. The two volumes of the book only covers the first two decades of Fredericks rule. A third volume, covering 1721-1730 was planned, but never appeared on account of the authors death in 1802.
