It is a Sinhala novel. Main character's Rosa Nona who is an old woman in 90's who has never gone beyond her village. Her stream of consciousness flows through the story. She was given in marriage to a middle aged man with 5 children who were few years younger than her. She became a mother to them and her twins against all odds after her husband's untimely death. It is the story of her grand mother and mother as well. It is written in English by the author under the title of "The House of Pirith". Pirith is the Sinhala word for Buddhist chantings. It contains humor, passion and social changers over a long period from 1880's to 1990's.
