500 $aThe story of Welsh-speaking farmers evicted from their homes in the Epynt mountain region in 1940 so that their land could be used as an army firing range.
500 $aTitle from box. Place of publication from British Library catalog. Colophon and prints signed: 2002.
500 $a"I have ... overprinted the names of fifty of the farms on a pull-out mezzotint ... My verbal & visual evocations are enclosed in paper, custom-made by Maureen Richardson, using the red earth of the Epynt. Six landscapes using etching & mezzotint are interleaved with handmade Unryu tissue. I printed the images on Somerset mouldmade paper, along with the text, set at Gwasg Gregynog, in 14 point Baskerville typeface. The edition is limited to 40 copies, enclosed in book-form boxes by John Sewell. The box opens out to a triptych in which the text is presented as a booklet, 9 by 8 inches; the 28-inch long mezzotint concertinas to the same size. Each lies in a recess in the box lids; in the centre tray lie the 15 by 11 inch landscapes. Shirley Jones, Red Hen Press" -- Advertisement laid in.
