500 $aTranslation, by Edme Jacques Genet, of the ironical defence of the Duke of Cumberland published in London in 1756 under the title: Reasons humbly offered, to prove, that the letter printed at the end of the French memorial of justification, is a French forgery and falsly [sic?] ascribed to His R--l H--s. The letter referred to is alleged to contain the Duke of Cumberland's orders to General Braddock, and is included in a collection of documents (compiled by Jacob Nicolas Moreau and published by order of the French government in 1756) entitled: Mémoire contenant le précis des faits, avec leurs pièces justificatives pour servir de réponse aux Observations envoyées par les ministers d'Angleterre, dans les cours de l'Europe.
