In this unstoppable backwards count, which is also a forwards count, the anonymous anti-hero makes the reader of his death into an accomplice. He lays out his life -- the mere fact of being alive -- as the sole reason for killing himself, and it's likely that his life is similar, or identical, to that of he or she who is reading these pages.
