500 $aCharlotte Austin Joy would prefer some other design "rather than any illustration of the Martyrdom of Lovejoy." A new organization is being formed in Nantucket, auxiliary to the Massachusetts Anti-Slavery Society, with an executive committee of men and women. This will dissolve the women's society and the old county society. Charlotte Austin Joy describes the local attitude toward nonresistance and asks Maria Weston Chapman to append her name to the New England Non-Resistance Society. She praises the labors of Henry Clarke Wright in her community. Charlotte Austin Joy writes: "Brother Wright has lectured to the children several times and they are delighted with him."
