Both covers contain gilt stamped central lozenges depicting the crucifixion. Each spine compartment contains a single gilt, floral tool. All text block edges are gilt. The bookplate and numerical label of Charles William Dyson Perrins are present on the front pastedown. A pencil note on the front pastedown reads, "The facsimile "privilege" leaf was replaced by a genuine leaf from another copy. May 1936."
