500 $a"Collected memoirs, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, School of Nursing, Class of 1955"--Cover.
520 $aIn 1951, a time when women were not admitted to the University until their junior or senior year, the new School of Nursing at Chapel Hill opened its doors to a small class of 27 female freshman students. In this collection of memoirs, the 17 nurses who eventually graduated from the program share memories of their journey through the state's first four-year bachelor of science in nursing program and how this new approach to nursing education shaped the rest of their lives and influenced the education of nurses in North Carolina.
