This book deals with everything that concerns the Gorkha people in India and their demand for the separate state of Gorkhaland. In Section One of the book, the author indulges in the Sociological and Anthropological Study of the Gorkha people, intimately tracing their genealogy, customs and traditions.

In Section Two, the author indulges in a Geo-Demographic study of the proposed state of Gorkhaland. This includes the Geographical Features and Demographics of the proposed state of Gorkhaland. In Section Three, the author indulges in a Socio-Political study of the demand for the separate state of Gorkhaland. This includes the answers to such questions as ‘Why do Gorkhas want Gorkhaland?’ among others. The section also involves an in-depth analysis of the political history of Darjeeling Hills and the surrounding areas with special references to the Gorkhaland Movement.

Ultimately, the author ends the book by discussing the Gorkhaland Movement today. The author also discusses about various political movements involving the Gorkhas in different parts of India like the Nepali Language Movement that galvanized the Gorkhas from across the nation and the Gorkha Autonomous Council (GAC) movement in Assam among others.

Adorned with scintillating images and written in simple and lucid English, this book is indeed a treasure house of scientific, historical, sociological and political revelations pertaining to the Gorkha people and their demand for the separate state of Gorkhaland. Heartily thence, I recommend the book to all readers and congratulate the author on such a wonderful work.”
