First Sentence
"Professor Pelc has often claimed that one of the partial domains of study that unconditionally belong to semiotics is represented by the explorations in conditional sentences (cf. Pelc 1986, p. 9); even if conditionals are just one of many (sets of) structures in natural language and even if not all of its fragments or aspects are a proper object of interest in semiotics, it is conditionality that is FOUNDATIONAL for the most basic notions of semiotics, notably the concept of sign" (also in accordance with Pelc's judgements, cf. his definition of sign: Pelc 1982, p. 85)."
