Edition Notes
Earliest edition of the complete Bible in Spanish. Known as the "Bible of the Bear" on account of the printer's mark on the title page, which was the device of Samuel Apiarius. Although Thomas Guarinus is responsible for the greatest part, Apiarius no doubt had a part in its productions.
Translated by Cassiodoro de Reina, whose version of the O.T. is based on the Hebrew following manly the Latin translation of St. Pagninus and using the Ferrara version along with other translations and commentaries. His version of the N.T. is based on the Greek, with references to other versions.

Device of Samuel Apiarius (Biener) on t.p.
